Ambati Rayudu has been reported with a suspect bowling action during the first one-day international against Australia in Sydney.
The match officials’ report, which was handed over to the India team management, cited concerns about the legality of the 33-year-old off-spinner’s bowling action.
Rayudu’s bowling action will now be scrutinised further under the ICC process relating to suspected illegal bowling actions reported in Tests, ODIs and T20Is.
Rayudu was seen bowling with a reworked action at the SCG, which seems to have been modelled on Muttiah Muralitharan in terms of approach to the crease and the delivery stride. He bowled two overs for 13 runs on Saturday having started well, conceding three runs in his first over, but was taken off when Usman Khawaja hit him for two boundaries in the next.
