Mohammad Hafeez, former captain helped his nerves to guide Pakistan to a victory in their first one-day against South Africa on Saturday. Hafeez scored 71 from just 63 balls after Imam ul Haq’s impressive 86.
Babar Azam also chipped in 49 runs.
After electing to bat on a slow track, South Africa made a rather cautious start. Rassie van der Dussen (93) and Hashim Amla (108*) stitched a massive stand of 155 for the second wicket as the duo powered South Africa to a competitive total of 266 for 2 in the first ODI against Pakistan in Port Elizabeth, on Saturday (January 19).
This was Pakistan’s highest run-chase against South Africa in South Africa.
