Left handed batsman Quinton de Kock demolished Pakistan’s bowlers to set up a series-clinching win for South Africa in the fifth and final one-day international at Newlands on Wednesday.
Usman Shinwari overstepped when dismissing De Kock for 12. Spared by a front-foot no-ball, the left-hander capitalised on the reprieve to produce a match-winning knock of 83 off 58 balls that included 11 fours and three sixes.
Skipper Faf du Plessis and Rassie van der Dussen put on an unbroken partnership worth 95 to ease South Africa over the line with 10 overs to spare, both men finishing unbeaten on 50 sealed a comprehensive victory.
While Pakistan’s below-par total came after being put in to bat by South Africa. Fakhar Zaman top-scored with 70 and Imad Wasim made late runs for his 47 not out off 31 deliveries.
