Hanuma Vihari the new no.4 spot in the Indian ODI team

The Indian ODI team is still searching for no. 4 spot batsman for upcoming world cup 2019. Hanuma Vihari, technically sound a batsman, have also scored across the globe and can be a good option for that role.

Ambati Rayudu failing to keep his place in the recently concluded five-match ODI series against Australia in home turf, that the Indian team lost 2-3. They had Rayudu at the no.4 spot for the first three ODIs and then skipper Virat Kohli took turns in an attempt to figure out alternatives. the management tried youngster Risabh Pant in the spot but he couldn’t also grab his chances.

However, the spot is still open with many other contenders still feeling confident of making it their own. Players like Vijay Shankar and Dinesh Karthik are leading the races to bat at no.4 spot in the World Cup which would only be a stop-gap solution. Hanuma Vihari batting at no 4. spot can solve the problems for team India.

Hanuma Vihari impressed one and all with his fighting half century against England in the Oval Test match.Since then, he has toured Australia, where he even opened the innings against the likes of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood and held his own.

Vihari will represent Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2019, which gets underway in a week. In a chat with TOI recently revealed that he has got everything required to succeed in that position.

“I think I fit the bill (for the No. 4 spot). I’ve got the technique. You need someone at that No. 4 spot who has a good technique and can adapt to any situation. I think I’ve the skills and the game to succeed at that position,” Vihari said.

However, Hanuma Vihari is currently concentrating on having a good IPL season. Despite knowing that everything depends on the selectors, he is keen to use the platform count. The Hyderabad batsman has done reasonably well in the List A games for India A and will like to make the experience count.
