Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals will face each other to clinch their first win at the end of Match 8 of VIVO IPL 2019. Both teams lost their respective season openers.
The teams had chances to open their points coloumn but lost grip on the contest and ended on the losing side. The pressure to secure early points in the tournament will be high on both, and the clash in Hyderabad on a batting belter will be an opportunity they wouldn’t want to see beyond.
Kane Williamson, who led them to the title and was named captain for the entire season, becomes available for selection having recovered from a shoulder injury and will lead the side this season also. As a result, Jonny Bairstow or Shakib al Hasan, who had a poor outing with the ball could be dropped. The way David Warner batted in that opener against KKR, it didn’t appear as if he had missed competitive cricket in the last twelve months.
Apart from the ‘mankading’ incident and the collapse that followed, Rajasthan Royals are ‘in a good space’. There are unlikely to make any changes. Jos Buttler has been a revelation – and a picture of consistency since he began opening the innings for the Rajasthan Royals.
In bowling department Sunrisers’ Rashid Khan continues to bamboozle batsmen with his quick leg-spinner and googlies and Royals having the pace of Jofra Archer, who is one of the world’s top three bowlers in the T20 format. VIVO IPL 2019 is his last opportunity to convince the England selectors to pick him for England’s World Cup squad.null
