Mumbai Indians’ teenage cricketer Dewald Brevis, who is known as Baby AB, made a stunning Indian Premier League debut. South African batsman, Brevis scored 29 runs from just 19 balls, at the strike rate of 152.63, including two fours and two sixes.
Dewald Brevis was picked up by Mumbai Indians in the mega auction for Rs 3 crore after some breath-taking bidding from his base price of Rs 20 lakh. Brevis made headlines at the U19 World Cup 2022 in West Indies, breaking the 18-year-old record for the most runs scored in a single edition, which was held by Shikhar Dhawan. Dewald Brevis was in scintillating form in the U19 World Cup in the West Indies as he started his campaign against India U19 with a stroke-filled 65. He then followed it up with a 104 against Uganda. He hit 96 against Ireland and 97 against England in the quarter-final.
